What you’ll do

  • Own end-to-end UX for assigned flows: research, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and developer-ready handoff.

  • Maintain and extend a coherent design system (typography, colour, spacing, components) aligned with Ikigai brand.

  • Design responsive layouts for mobile-first customers and desktop-heavy staff workflows.

  • Map complex operational journeys (enquiries, listings, workshop, finance) into simple, low-error interfaces.

Run lightweight usability checks with staff and use analytics/feedback to iterate.

  • Produce specs, redlines, and component notes for Next.js/Tailwind implementation (including edge/empty states).

  • Collaborate on marketing pages, careers, and promotional surfaces with the marketing team.

  • Ensure accessibility basics: contrast, focus order, touch targets, and readable forms.

  • What we’re looking for

    • 2+ years UI/UX design for web products (portfolio required).

    • Strong Figma (or equivalent) workflow: components, variants, auto-layout, and dev handoff.

    • Evidence of UX thinking—not only visual polish (flows, hierarchy, error prevention).

    • Ability to design within brand constraints and work iteratively with engineers.

    • Clear written communication for annotations and async collaboration.

    Nice to have

    • Automotive, retail, or marketplace product experience.

    • Basic HTML/CSS literacy to discuss feasibility with developers.

    • Illustration/photography direction for marketing collaboration.

    • Familiarity with dashboard/admin UX patterns.

    How hiring works

    1. Apply

Submit your CV, portfolio or GitHub links, and salary expectations (or hourly rate for contract).

    2. Intro call

Discuss your experience, availability, and interest in automotive/dealership software.

    3. Technical review

Short practical exercise or walkthrough of past work relevant to the role (take-home where fair).

    4. Team interview

Meet stakeholders, align on product priorities, and discuss how you work in a small team.

    5. Offer

Agree scope, remote/hybrid pattern, and first project milestones.

    What you’ll get

    • Build real product used daily by staff and customers—not slide decks or throwaway prototypes.

    • Modern stack: Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, and Radix/shadcn UI.

    • Small-team influence: your work ships to production and improves showroom, workshop, and enquiry flows.

    • Flexible remote/hybrid arrangement where possible (Melbourne on-site for key workshops when needed).

    Apply in 2 minutes

Share your details, salary expectations, and upload your CV. We’ll confirm by email.
